Reunited at Last

Nick & Alexandra married in Denmark, at Frederiksberg’s Town Hall
We picked Copenhagen as Nick is from there. Friends and family all over the world joined on ZOOM during the ceremony and to keep things intimate, we had our “reception” at Nick’s parents home. It was small due to Covid-19 but it turned out to be very beautiful. My mother-in-law took care of all the aesthetics and wedding decor at her beautiful home. After dinner, we met with some of our friends at a whiskey bar to toast and celebrate.
We decided to elope very last minute leaving very little time to search for a dress. Our wedding planner, Leanne Hindle from Marry Abroad Simply forwarded the websites she knew would be able to deliver quickly. ASOS Bridal had the type of dress I envisioned for our civil ceremony and I picked from their collections.
On my wedding day, I wanted a natural look that could enhance my features and my makeup artist/hairstylist did a great job with that! Tina Alfheim has worked with our wedding planning agency before, and after looking at her work on Instagram and website page, I knew I had to hire her.
Due to COVID-19, the participants were limited to a maximum of 5 so we celebrated outside afterwards, and the wedding was streamed on Zoom. Our biggest concern was time! Eloping is fun, adventurous and unique but can also bring some time constraints when finding rings, outfits and a photographer. We’re thankful it all worked out for us. If you can include a wedding planner in your budget, like Marry Abroad Simply, it does make a huge difference. They help with your marriage license and last-minute details, especially if you’re new to the country like I was. If not, the internet is your friend. Search and search again until you find what you’re looking for. Remind yourself to enjoy every single moment of the process, no matter the size of the wedding it can be stressful but it’s worth it!
